APPLICATION FOR THE CONTEST
How to apply for the contest?
Please go to the page of the contest on our website, complete the application form, make your payment and that’s it! You are in!
You may apply with as many artworks as you wish, but please notice that the application fee is to be paid for every artwork if not stated otherwise in the conditions.
I would like to apply more than one piece of art.
If I apply more than one piece of art, should I register more than one time?
No, you complete the registration form only once, but the application fee (if applicable) is payable for every artwork if not stated otherwise in the conditions.
What should I write in the info (bio)?
Please give us short written information about yourself and your winning artwork. This information will be printed out, framed, and hung by your artwork. The text will be in English and Hungarian, so the whole text in English should be no longer than half of an A4 page.

1. What is the language of the contest?
The language of the contest is English! If you have any troubles understanding, please let us know, and we will try and help you! We also speak Hungarian!

First of all, congratulations! We are very proud of you!

This is how the next few steps will look like:

1. You get a congratulation email from us. In that email you have to answer the question: How would you like your artwork to be exhibited? You can read more about the options here. Additionally, you can decide on your participation in the Gala Opening of the Contest Exhibition.

2. Depending on your choice in the first step, we agree on the shipment options and details. You can read more about that here.
​
3. After that you sign an agreement with us. The instructions on signing the agreement will be in the email we send you.
​
4. You pay the shipment/printing fees applicable in your case. Be warned that every case is unique, so we have to make personalized offers for each and every artist! Please also note that we always have a free option of exhibiting at our gallery.

5. You ship the artwork the way we agreed. Before shipping make sure the artwork meets our requirements. Please be warned that the shipping deadlines are very important. You can read more about the deadlines in the Contest Guidelines. If the artwork will not arrive on time, please read the Late Arrival section and contact us.

6. The artwork arrives to the Gallery. We prepare the artwork for the exhibition and do all the necessary preparations.

7. The exhibition starts on the dates stated in the Contest Guidelines.
​
8. The Opening Gala is held on the date stated in the Contest Guidelines.

10. The show ends on the date stated in the Contest Guidelines. We will contact you beforehand to discuss the shipping-back details or the further perspectives of the artwork. (Applicable if the artwork was not sold)

11. We pack the arworks and ship them back to your original address. (Applicable if the artwork was not sold)
​
12. The artwork arrives back to you!

What are the gallery requirements for the artwork?
ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS
The artwork is to be signed on the back side, with the full name of the artist and the title of the artwork. Also, it must include a way to be hung. (e.g. a hook, but the string is the best choice).
Can I change my artwork for the exhibition?
As you are a winner of the contest we prefer if you send us your winner's artwork. But if it is not possible, you can change your artwork. Please send us a photo of the artwork which you would like to perform!
SHIPPING
What are the options?
These are the various ways you can exhibit your artwork at our gallery.
Shipping as-is
You can ship your artwork as it is, stretched in a box, via FedEx, DHL, or UPS.

We’d advise you to use FedEx as they are very experienced in art shipping.
Shipping unstretched
You have to send your artwork unstretched in a tube and we will have it stretched locally in Budapest. We have highly qualified specialists who work for plenty of professional galleries and the cost is much lower than average.
High Quality Art Print
We can make a high-quality print of your artwork on stretched canvas. In this case, we will sign an agreement with you so that you are sure that the printing is made only with your permission.
Exhibiting on screen
We display your artwork on our plasma TV (65-inch) in the gallery. The image will contain the artwork, your name, and the title of the artwork.
What if I cannot afford to ship?
No problem! Your artwork will be displayed on plasma TV in the gallery during the exhibition. Just choose that option! Besides, there will be an online exhibition of all participating artworks on our website and will remain on the website even after the exhibition is over. So you will be on our website and on the TV screen, too! By every artwork there will be a QR code which if scanned will take our guest to your video interview (if you provided it with it) - so, our guests and potential collectors can know you better!
Can the gallery arrange the shipment & pick-up?
Of course, we can! Please provide us with your name, full address, email, phone number, and dimensions of your artwork packed (length x weight x height) and kg. We will check the price for it and let you know! Once you decide and pay, we will organize it and share the tracking number with you! We can organize a shipment both to our gallery if and back to you.
How can I get my artwork back after the exhibition is over?
Once the exhibition is over, we are collecting all the artworks, and packing them, we are checking the prices with the TNT (FedEx) company, and letting you know! You should pay the cost for the shipping and once it is paid we are sending you to the address you provide us and sharing with you the tracking number!
What if my artwork is lost?
In very rare cases there are delays in shipping artwork, but they are not lost if they are shipped with an international company such as DHL or FedEx!
What if my artwork is damaged?
The risk of your artwork being damaged is minor, but it strongly depends on how the artwork was packed. Please take care of proper packing (there are a lot of videos on Youtube, so please look after that!)
How will you pack my artwork on its way back home from the gallery?
We will use your package, so your package is to be reusable and it must contain your address, name, e-mail, and phone number! This information is important because we will send you your artwork back! It is also very important that you write full and correct address (country, zip code, city, street name, and number), phone number, and email. If you do it we will not be able to register the shipping or the package cannot be delivered! If the package is not reusable we will have to charge you for making a new package!
STRETCHING, FRAMING, ART PRINT
How can I pay for stretching?
You will get an invoice for stretching your artwork (please note that you can pay by bank transfer or PayPal, the PayPal ID can be found on the invoice)
How can I pay for the art print?
You will get an invoice for making a print from your artwork (please note that you can pay by bank transfer or PayPal, the PayPal ID can be found on the invoice), you have to pay the costs of the print which may vary from 25 to more than 100 EUR, depending on the dimensions of your artwork, including printing, canvas, stretcher, stretching, shipping, and VAT. The amount is to be paid by the date stated in the invoice so that we can arrange printing and stretching by the date of our exhibition. Please inform us about the dimensions of your artwork, so that we can calculate the exact cost for you!
Can you arrange framing of my artwork?
Yes, we can arrange the framing of your artwork locally in Budapest and make a frame. We have highly qualified specialists who work for plenty of professional galleries. Please inform us about the dimensions of your artwork and what would you like us to make (frame, passe-partout, glass, etc.), so that we can calculate the exact cost for you!
Can you arrange making an art print and framing it?
Please inform us about the dimensions of your artwork and what would you like us to make (frame, passe-partout, glass, etc.), so that we can calculate the exact cost for you! To make a quality print, we need a good quality and high-resolution photo (jpeg, pdf, or png). So we can print and make the framing. We have highly qualified specialists who work for plenty of professional galleries.
LATE ARRIVAL & GALA OPENING
I cannot ensure the shipping of my artwork by the deadline.
What happens if my artwork does not get there by the beginning of the exhibition?
If your artwork is late for the beginning of the exhibition, we will still include it in the exhibition, but please note that in this case, we cannot guarantee that your artwork will be placed in the place that fits it the best.
I am not going to participate in the grand opening personally, is it a problem?
That is very sad to hear! Nevertheless, your artwork will be presented at our gallery and will be placed on our website! Perhaps you can come earlier or later to our gallery and have a look at the exhibition!

That is very sad to hear! Nevertheless, is it possible for us to present your artwork on a TV at our gallery? Your artwork will be displayed on plasma TV in the gallery during the exhibition. Besides, there will be an online exhibition of all participating artworks on our website, which will remain on the website even after the exhibition. So you will be on our website and on TV, too! By every artwork there will be a QR code which if scanned will take our guest to your video interview - so, our guests and potential collectors can know you better.
PHOTOS & VIDEOS ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Will you publish or send photos or videos from the exhibition after the event?
Of course, once we upload photos from the Grand Opening we can send them to you! Please write us at support@goldenduckgallery.com and ask us for the link!
Can you send me a photo of my artwork in your gallery?
Yes, when we are ready and place all artworks in our gallery, we make a video where you will see all artworks including yours in their places. We will place this video on our website. You are free to download and share this video.
